Chalk Paint After Care?

Sometimes I am asked how best to look after chalk painted furniture or how hard wearing can you expect it to be?
Chalk painted furniture is designed to show natural wear over time and will take on a unique patina with age and use.
Although several coats of finishing wax are applied for resilience, Chalk paint and wax needs about 5 to 21 days to naturally harden and fully cure. During this time it does need to be treated with care and excessive handling should be avoided.

To keep furniture dust free use a soft cloth and avoid contact with all liquid furniture polish or sprays that can affect the wax. To clean marks or stains use a damp cloth or mild soap & water.
Avoid placing anything hot on the surface and it is recommended that you always use place mats and coasters.
Accidents do happen and scuffs or damage can be repaired by carefully removing the wax from the effected area, gentle sanding if necessary, reapplying the paint and then finishing with wax. We are happy to help with any questions or enquiries you might have regarding this process.
To keep your furniture at its best we recommend that you apply a coat of soft, clear or bees wax every 12 months. Simply apply a thin layer of wax and buff with a soft cloth after 30 minutes.
With gentle after care a piece of chalk painted furniture can become much loved and look beautiful for many years to come.
